Ideally located halfway between Bourke and the Corner Country (Tibooburra, Sturt National Park), Wanaaring is an ideal place to break the journey and the wonderful Outback Inn is an ideal Outback Bed location.
Located on the Paroo River, Wanaaring was established as a service town for the outlying sheep properties. The river provided the perfect resource for wool scouring & washing and there are many interesting historical remnants along the banks.
If you like fishing and have a yearning to catch some Yellow Belly or net for some Yabbies, Wanaaring is ideal. Catching is good and there are few more picturesque places to grab a river bank and take the surrounds in.
If you need a bit of sweetening up, tours of the local bee farms are available and honey is for sale for the rest of your travels.
For those with an interest in pioneering history, the cemetery provides a great insight to past times.
