Visit one of the last remaining true bush pubs. Royal Hotel, Tilpa was established in 1894. In 1927 it was described as “a wooden building with iron roof consisting of a main portion containing first class dining room, 2 parlors, 8 bedrooms and large wire gauze covered sleeping out space, also a detached building consisting of kitchen and second class dining room…..” in 2009 Tilpa boast a unique bar where you can write your name upon the wall to support the Flying Doctor, a dining room and accommodation.

Tony & Jill are the publicans at Tilpa serving locals and tourists with good beer, good food – not to mention the best steak sandwiches found along the Darling, fuel and ice. EFTPOS is available.

From Bourke
Travel south west taking the Bourke to Louth/Wilcannia River Road (Bourke to Louth is 99kms)
Travel through the Village of Louth continuing onto Tilpa a further 93kms which brings you to a cross road leading onto the Tilpa bridge and the village of Tilpa (which is on the western side).
From Broken Hill/Wilcannia:
Travel from Broken Hill to Wilcannia on the Barrier Highway 196kms -Continue through Wilcannia on the Barrier Highway 6kms
Turn left at the road sign to Tilpa
142kms turn left at the cross roads across the Darling River bridge
