Sophie and Nathen first diversified into tourism in 2007 after lack of accommodation options within the Mungo region showed a potential income in a time of drought. With the closest town being a 200km round trip, Sophie needed a responsibility and direction of her own on the station, hence Turlee Station Stay!
Nathen’s family purchased Turlee in 1973 however the Wakefield’s have operated stations within the local area since 1904. Sophie and Nathen met whilst she was governessing at a nearby station and Nathen was contract goat mustering next door. Sophie and Nathen have two little girls, Grace and Willow.
