Out Fact

More likely the word ‘Buckanbe’ comes from a derivation of the local aboriginal word in the Barkindji language, “Balkinbie” which means ’black hair’. Further research has revealed that the aboriginal word “Bukkandi” ( used in NSW and pronounced Buckandee) meant ‘native cat’.
